Markets

There are many markets to visit in the local area, they vary in size and are usually much larger during the summer months. Flea markets and antique fairs are held at various times during the year and are usually advertised on roadsides a few weeks prior to the actual date.

Mortagne
Thursday and Sunday mornings in July and August. The market is quite small (off the main shopping street near the stadium) but sells good produce, fresh fish, cheeses, vegetables and plants.

Meschers
Saturday and Sunday and every day through July and August

Cozes
Wednesday mornings in the Medieval covered market place.

Jonzac
Tuesday, Friday and Saturday markets.

Gemozac
Friday morning throughout the year.It is a small market that sells seafood, cheeses, meats and in the summer months clothes, material, leather goods etc.

Saint-Georges de Didonne
Saturday mornings. There is a fairly brisk and varied market in the summer stretching along two main streets selling many gifts and this also has a large internal food market.

Royan
every day except Monday.

Saintes
everyday except Monday and we believe there is also an Evening market held on the 1st Monday of the month at the top of the town near the Infirmary.

There are also melon and oyster sellers in Mortagne village (near the bank) on Sunday mornings. Look out for fresh Oyster sellers outside supermarkets and at a stall beside the Church in Gemozac on Sunday mornings.
